Yesterday it was Queensday.
Every year on April 30 we celebrate our gueen's birthday. Actually she is born on January 31 but when she took over from her mother she decided that her moms birthday will remain Queensday (also cause of the weather I suppose).
Its a day all citizens dont have to work (some off course need to work...) and lots of people go to the centre of their towns.
So did we. We went to the centre of Amsterdam where a huge crowd was celebrating on squares and in some streets. Because our national colour is Orange a lot of people were dressed in that colour. The inner city was free of traffic and public transport was free to use.
It was a great day and for pics go to my greasy site.

Sounds like a really splendid event to nationalize. Kudos.
Yeah, I saw Amsterdam on TV yesterday morning. Matt Lauer from NBC's Today Show is currently doing his annual "Where in the World is Matt Lauer?" series and he was in Amsterdam. There was live coverage of his broadcast, so I could see the city and it's people...plus there were feature stories on other Holland places and things, like windmills, tulips/flower growing, and Delft. Matt was sure to talk all about Queen's Day...he was even wearing orange pants! Anyway, I thought of you and was wondering if you were out in the city celebrating.
How nice to hear Amsterdam even was broadcasted there Donna!
